Customer Service Rep

Quidnunc, a 13-year-old neighborhood computer, software and Internet store needs a full-time customer service
person. This is an entry-level position and can grow into more for the right candidate.

THE JOB DESCRIPTION:
The individual in this position is responsible for helping customers and selling products and services. While this is
an entry-level position, it is important because this position, more than any other, deals directly with our customers.
New employees will work with one or more other employees. The experienced employee may work alone for brief periods
and open or close the store
Examples of Duties include but are not limited to:
- Wait on customers, accurately recording service orders, product orders, and sales transactions.
- Maintain a working knowledge of products in stock and available and communicate clearly and accurately with customers.
- Operate point of sale software, related spreadsheets, Internet database and communications programs.
- Close the register at the end of the day and prepare the bank deposit and associated reports.
- Provide minor technical advice to customers and appropriately route questions to other staff members.
- Answer telephones and take messages or route calls to others when appropriate.
- Stock retail shelves.
- Keep store clean, neat, and attractive.
- Prepare quotes for new computer systems.
- Configure Internet connections on Windows-based computers.
- Take product returns in accordance with store return policies.
- Complete special order forms and distribute to purchasing for follow-up.
- Assist the store manager by receiving product shipments and recording them in the point-of-sale system

Job Description:
Computer Technician
This position requires technical skills for working on computers as well as interpersonal
skills working with customers. The technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing
customer and store computers. Additional responsibilities include keeping detailed records
of work performed on customer computers and documenting conversations with customers to ensure
we have an accurate record of agreements with and work done for customers. While not a sales
position, the technician is expected to deal with customers, answering questions, and occasionally
completing the sales transaction paperwork.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoot customer and store computers
- Install hardware into customer and store computers
- Install software on customer and store computers
- Fully document all steps taken, processes done and tests performed in the completion of computer service work.
- Fully document all conversations or messages left with customers.
- Assemble computers for sale and store use.
- Setup dialup and DSL Internet on customer computers
- Provide limited telephone support for customers for purchases from Quidnunc
- Provide limited telephone support for Quidnunc Internet customers
- Perform on-site installation and support of customer computer problems
- Be on time for all scheduled work including store meetings and on-site customer appointments.
- Keep current on hardware technology and make recommendations to the store buyer about items to stock for sale.
- Wait on customers
Performance Measurement:
Bill a minimum of at least 50% of paid hours.
No more than 2% call-backs

CompTia A+ Certification
